Excavating Ex Machina
On April 8, 2023 we hosted Excavating Ex Machina, curated by Raina Marie and produced in partnership with 1188WRLD for Subjective Session 005 at Lume Studios. It was the first time we opened up the doors to our 6-story Digital Arts Clubhouse to the public and the response was overwhelmingly positive. If you missed it, don’t worry! You can still check out the digital works in the Spirit Realm. This group of artists span a myriad of mediums, and the event explores the blurring between our digital and physical realities, the biological and synthetic. Touching on themes of illusion and perception, salvation and extinction, primordial stories and future myths, temporalities and cross-dimensionality, we consider what will future generations remember, recall, renovate, and excavate from the world today? These artists question, challenge, and convey the zeitgeist of the 21st century, an unprecedented crossroads of the imminent and unknowable singularity. Featured Artists: Anne Spalter, Ana María Caballero, Addie Wagenknecht, Olive Allen, Operator, The Josh Craig, Carrie Able, Mieke Marple, Chole Karayia, Aguri Sagimori, Garret Kane, Ori Carino, Solimán López, Stacie Ant, Coco Dolle, Karmimadeebora McMillan, Aaron Alden, Linda Dounia Rebeiz, Somi Nwandu, Michael Alan, Clay Devlin and Orkhan Mammadov. Performances By: Ana María Caballero Carrie Able The Josh Craig Dotan Negrin
